Who we are
This privacy policy explains how Shift4 Dine & Venue (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects and uses personal information when you visit our websites at https://shift4venue.co.uk and https://shift4dineandvenue.co.uk, or when you contact us about our card machines and EPOS systems. Shift4 Dine & Venue is a UK Shift4 partner based in Wales, United Kingdom.
What information we collect
When you complete an enquiry form on the site, request a quote, book a call or email us, we collect:
- Your name and business name
- Your email address and phone number
- The type of business you operate (so we can recommend the right Shift4 kit)
- Any other information you choose to send us in your message
When you visit our website, we also collect technical information through cookies and similar technologies — see “Cookies” below.
Why we collect it (lawful basis)
We collect this information so that we can:
- Respond to your enquiry and provide the card machines, EPOS systems or other services you’ve asked about (lawful basis: legitimate interests and, where you’ve actively asked us for a quote, steps prior to entering into a contract)
- Send you the quote, contract paperwork, installation and support information you need (lawful basis: contract)
- Improve our website and services (lawful basis: legitimate interests)
- Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations (lawful basis: legal obligation)
We do not sell your personal information. We will not send you marketing email or SMS without your explicit consent.
Who we share information with
We share your information only where it’s necessary to provide our services:
- Shift4 Payments (Europe) Ltd — when you order Shift4 hardware or processing, your details are passed to Shift4 so they can set up your merchant account and ship equipment.
- Our hosting and email providers — including GoDaddy (web hosting) and Google (email). They process your information on our behalf under data processing agreements.
- Our installation engineers — when we install equipment on your premises.
- Regulators, law enforcement or courts — where we’re legally required to disclose information.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to function properly and to help us understand how visitors use the site. The cookies we use fall into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies — needed for the site to function (e.g. WordPress session cookies, contact form anti-spam tokens). These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies — to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We will only set these with your consent.
You can refuse, accept or revoke consent for non-essential cookies at any time using the cookie banner on the site, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Where you become a customer, we keep your account and transaction records for the period required by UK tax and accounting law (typically 6 years from the end of the relevant accounting period). Where you ask us to delete your data sooner, we’ll do so unless we have a lawful reason to keep it.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you (a “subject access request”)
- Ask us to correct information that’s wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete your information (“right to be forgotten”) where there’s no good reason for us to keep it
- Ask us to restrict or stop processing your information
- Ask us to send your information to another provider (data portability)
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within one month.
