About this policy
This policy explains how the Shift4 Dine & Venue website (shift4dineandvenue.co.uk, also reachable at shift4venue.co.uk) uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can manage them. It works alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device to remember things between page visits — for example, that you’ve dismissed a banner, completed a contact form, or that you’re logged in to an admin area. “Similar technologies” includes pixels, local storage and tracking tags. We use the word “cookies” in this policy to mean all of these.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies
These are needed for the website to work properly. They don’t track you and we don’t need your consent to set them.
- WordPress session cookies — set by our content management system so that pages load correctly and forms work.
- Contact form anti-spam tokens — set by Contact Form 7 to prevent bots from submitting our enquiry forms.
- Cookie consent banner — remembers whether you’ve accepted or declined non-essential cookies so we don’t show you the banner repeatedly.
- Hosting / security cookies — set by GoDaddy and Wordfence to keep the site secure (e.g. detecting suspicious traffic).
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
If we add an analytics tool (such as Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity) in future, it will set cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, where people drop off, what device they’re on. These will only be set if you accept them via the cookie banner. We do not currently run any third-party analytics on this site.
Marketing and advertising cookies
We do not currently run any marketing or advertising cookies (e.g. Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing). If we add them, we will update this policy and ask for your consent via the cookie banner before they fire.
How to manage cookies
- On this site: use the cookie consent banner to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser cookies for our domain — the banner will reappear and you can re-choose.
- In your browser: all modern browsers let you view, block or delete cookies. The “Help” menu in your browser will tell you how. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the site from working properly (for example, contact forms may not submit).
- On your device: you can usually clear all stored cookies via your browser’s privacy/clear-data settings.
Third-party services that may set cookies
Some pages may embed content from third parties — for example, Google Maps, YouTube or social media platforms. These services may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies, which we don’t control. Where we use such embeds, we aim to use privacy-preserving variants (e.g. youtube-nocookie.com) where available.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new tools to the site. The current version is always at this URL with the “Last updated” date at the top.
